Affiliate marketing is how many new internet marketers make their first dollars online. The concept is simple: you sell products for a company and you get a portion of every sale you make. There’s nothing stopping you from marketing your affiliate products offline, too.
The problem is that there are a lot of scam artists out there promising big commissions for a little bit of work. The amount of work necessary for this business seems to be another stumbling block because many quit when they see how much it takes. The rest of this article lays-out some very useful marketing tips designed to help you in your business.
Sell what you know. One often given piece of advice is to write about subjects you know about already. Ok, same thing with IM, and moreso with affiliate marketing. Choose an affiliate product that you already know a lot about or a niche that you are comfortable in.
If you like, use, and are knowledgable about skin care and beauty; then just be an affiliate for companies that have those products. Simple, done. You’ll have a much easier time marketing it because you have the knowledge and your enthusiasm will come through. You’ll know how to approach and talk to your prospects, and that will make it easier to make sales. It’ll be easier because you can ask yourself what would be required to make ‘you’ want to buy something.
It’s really not worth it to bother concealing the fact a link is for an affiliate product. At this point, almost everyone knows what an affiliate link looks like. Don’t worry about letting your visitors know you’re working as an affiliate. Your readers and potential buyers will appreciate that you were honest with them. Do you dislike using affiliate links, and will you avoid using them or navigating away if you accidentally click on one? How often do you erase the affiliate code in the URL before you buy? There’s an excellent chance that won’t happen if they know you’re an affiliate before they click on the ‘buy’ button.
So, for your affiliate website, try to avoid over-doing it with advertising banners and flashy buttons. You may create the wrong impression if your site is heavy on the advertising banners/graphics, also it can really be an eye-strain for your readers. All the best content and information in the world cannot save a site if it has too many ads on it.
Some readers don’t like the concept of affiliate marketing, and this may aggravate that feeling causing them to navigate away. So choose carefully how many and where you place your ad graphics. Stay consistent with your ads per product, just one per products, and your conversions should get better. There are lots of ways to keep your affiliate marketing sales high. Being an affiliate marketer can be incredibly lucrative if you approach it the right way. If you’re only looking to make a fast dollar overnight, this probably is not for you. However, the world can belong to you if you’re willing to put the time and work into it.
